Construction of Station 2 began on February 23rd, 2009, and the Fire District occupied the building on December 12th, 2009. Shown below are photographs of the construction as it progressed. The most recent photos appear first.

MOVING DAY!
Saturday, December 12, 2009,Firefighters spent the day moving apparatus and equipment in at Station 2.

8-28-09 The first layer of asphalt has been put down and the awnings have been completed. Lettering on the City Hall and apparatus bays has also been completed.

 

 

8-22-08 Painting has been completed and the floors are being washed in preparation for sealing. This view shows the service window at the city clerks office.

8-2-09 Curbs and the concrete apron in front of the apparatus bay have been poured. Lettering has been applied over the City offices and the awning has been attached over the entries. All the exterior doors and windows are complete. Inside, the mezanine has been completed.

As of June 14th, apparatus bay doors have been installed and the overhead radiant heat for the apparatus bays have been installed or are in the process of being installed. The block wall that will support the mezzanine has been completed and piping that will be used to fill the Engines and Tenders with water is progressing.

Construction of a block wall in the apparatus bay is nearly complete. This wall will support a mezzanine that will provide more usable space for the Fire District without increasing the size of the entire building.

 

 

 

Most interior walls have been sheetrocked and taping is ongoing as shown in this photo of the meeting area.

Framing of interior walls and installation of plumbing and HVAC is well underway in this photo taken on May 21st.

 

 

Apparatus bay floor has been poured and the beginnings of a block wall can be seen in this photo.

Most underground work has been completed in the City Hall/Community room portion of the building. Work continues on the roof and grading the site. Power should be available to the site next week and it is anticipated the floor will be poured in this half of the building by the end of April

 

 

Friday, April 10th, Footings and poured walls are in place at all the entrances to the building. This photo is taken from what will be the meeting space looking south. The opening at the right side of the photo will be the entrance to the city hall.

Thursday, April 2nd, the final wall and roof sections have been lifted into place.Concrete sections will be poured at the entrances to the apparatus bay and excavation to bring the site to the proper grade will begin shortly.

 

 

Friday, March 27th, apparatus bay south wall is complete along with the east wall and part of the apparatus bay roof. The crane which was in the apparatus bay, has been repositioned to lift the north walls and remaining roof sections.

Thursday, March 26th, apparatus bay south wall and part of east wall have been erected. City hall entrance will be the large opening on the left side of the picture.

 

 

Building panels are being erected as seen in this photo taken on Wednesday, March 25th. The photographer is standing at the southwest corner of the building site looking to the north east.

Friday, March 20th, a crane and other high-lift equipment has been brought into position to begin lifting the panels.
