DEPARTING MEMBERS HONORED
Retiring and departing members of the Randolph-Hampton Fire District were honored at the 2010 Recognition Banquet on Saturday, March 20th at Station 2 in Hampton. The recognition banquet is held every two years to honor those who have served their communities through the Fire District. Invited guests include current and retired firefighters. Pictured from left to right are Assistant Chief Joe Wagner, Gene Meyers retiring after 24 years of service, Andy Otte retiring after 20 years, Kurt Weidner retiring after 17 years, Steve Weidner retiring after 12 years, Duane Endres who is stepping down after 7 years because he moved out of the Fire District, and Fire District Chief Jim Heiman.
NEW ENGINE PUT IN SERVICE
Firefighters spent Saturday, March 13th installing equipment on its newest engine. Engine 1 was built on a 2010 International chassis by Rosenbauer Fire Apparatus. Some of the features include a pump capable of flowing 1500 gallons of water per minute and a tank that holds 1250 gallons of water. Engine 1 was configured to mimic Engine 2 as closely as possible with regard to operation and equipment storage, although some differences do exist. Cost of the new engine was $336,919 and was paid for through the Fire District's Truck fund. Engine 1 replaces a 1987 Engine which has been retired and advertised for sale.
MOVING DAY!
Firefighters spent the day Saturday, December 12th moving apparatus and equipment in at Station 2. While there are still a few "bugs" to be worked out in the new building and 238th St. E. won't be paved until next spring Station 2 is fully operational. Firefighters responded to the first emenrgency call from the new station on Sunday, December 13th. CHICKEN BARBEQUE A SUCCESS
The first chicken was placed on the grill promptly at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 15th marking the official start of the 42nd Annual Randolph-Hampton Fire District Chicken Barbeque. 2,275 people went through the serving line at this years fundraiser. The event was considered a success even though the Street Dance was partially rained out when a thunderstorn moved in shortly after 9 p.m. Over $8000 in donated cash and prizes was awarded in this years raffle.
